Disney Vinylmation is a line of Disneyana collectibles that was first introduced to the world in 2008. Not too long ago. The name comes from a combination of the words Vinyl and Animation. So what exactly are they? They are vinyl figures made in the form of Mickey Mouse, but with the print of other characters or patterns. Size choices are 1.5″, 3″, or 9″. The most popular (and most common) are the 3″ characters.

Buying Disney Vinylmation
You can buy them in a sealed box. What you are buying is not known until you actually open it. This is kind of like collectible trading cards. You don’t know what you have until you actually open the box. What you do know when you purchase one is the series and the figures that are part of that series. There’s also an unknown figure in each series, which is called the “chaser”. These are rarer to find. Even more rare are Variants, which is a newer addition to the more recent Disney Vinylmation series. These are the rarest of each series and the highest sought after figures of Vinylmation.
You can also buy Disney Vinylmation by the case, which includes 24 Vinylmation figures. This consists of 2 full sets of 11 characters, 1 chaser, and 1 extra Vinlymation (so you’ll have 3 of one character in a case). This is why Disney started to add the variation characters; because people could just buy a case and be guaranteed a chaser. Now, there’s something that’s super-rare that you’re not guaranteed to get.
The Vinylmation Jr series features 1.5″ Vinylmation figures, hence the name, Vinylmation Jr.
You can also purchase Limted Editions, which you’ll know what figure you’re getting without opening the package. These may also come in sets of more than one character.
If you’re a Disney fan and enjoy collectibles, you should definitely consider making Disney Vinylmation a part of your collection.
